Christopher Bailey, a modern fashion designer, was brought in to revitalize the product lines by adding a more feminine touch, such as the hot pink trenchcoat, to the conservative style of earlier years He succeeded in adding class to sensibility, with younger designs and models. Product lines today include purses, totes and handbags, luggage and umbrellas, cashmere scarves and hats, fragrances, and a variety of skin care items. In addition, Burberry has lines of children’s clothing, shoes, watches, belts, and sunglasses, as well as men and women’s fashion apparel. Their perfume collection, introduced in 2000, includes Baby Touch, Tender Touch, Brit Red, Brit Gold, Burberry Touch, and Weekend. Colognes for men, such as Brit, Touch, and Weekend are extremely popular as well. The original trenchcoat has been embellished, in some styles, with luxurious furs. Many of the Burberry coats and jackets today are reversible, adding further appeal to their original fabric and lining.
